Ukrtelecom
Ukrtelecom Joint Stock Company is the advanced enterprise with the developed infrastructure that holds leading position in the field of fixed telephony market of Ukraine. The Company covers about 71% of the local telephony market and 83% of long-distance and international telephony market.
The history of Ukrtelecom foundation originated in 1993 when there was registered the Ukrainian Telecommunication Corporation UKRELEKTROZVIAZOK (since 1994 ? Ukrtelecom). Later, in 1998, according to the Program approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, Ukrtelecom Corporation was reorganized into the unified state enterprise and, after having been corporatized in January 2000, it was transformed into a joint stock company.
Now, the organizational structure of Ukrtelecom JSC is built subject to the principle of vertical management of finances, technical processes and staff. The Company incorporates 32 branches, one of which, Utel, was incorporated in 2005 by the decision of the General Shareholders? Meeting.
Ukrtelecom is a participant (a shareholder) of a number of joint ventures and joint stock companies operating in the telecommunication market of Ukraine:
- Infocom JV (documentary telecommunication, Internet, IP-telephony) ? Ukrtelecom?s share in its authorized fund constitutes 51%.
- Elsacom-Ukraine CJSC ? (mobile satellite communication in Globalstar system) ? 34% of shares are owned by Ukrtelecom.
- Ukrainian Wave JV (Ukrayinska Khvylia) ? Ukrtelecom?s share in the authorized fund constitutes 23.6%.
- Telecominvest JSC (development and introduction of automatic systems for document circulation) ? 26% of shares are owned by Ukrtelecom.
- Svemon-Invest JSC ? 1.12%.
- Telesystems of Ukraine CJSC (fixed subscriber radio access) ? 2.47%.
Ukrtelecom provides all kinds of advanced telecommunication services throughout Ukraine, namely:
- international, long-distance and local telephony; - data transmission and construction of private virtual telephone networks;
- Internet services, including: switched and broadband Internet access for fixed telephony subscribers;
- permanent IP-connection via dedicated line;
- hardware and virtual hosting;
- rent of non-switched dedicated telecom channels;
- ISDN;
- video-conference communication;
- wire communication;
- telegraphy;
- technical maintenance of radio and TV broadcasting networks;
Ukrtelecom is the largest telecom communication carrier of fixed telephony in Ukraine, which operates more than 10 million of telephone lines, and the leader among Internet providers in Ukraine rendering switched access services to hundreds of thousands customers.
