Balta Dairy Canning Plant of Baby FoodBalta Dairy Canning Plant of Baby Food (BDP) was constructed with help of Abbot Laboratories (USA) and set in operation in 1980. The plant was designed with a capacity to process 500 tons of raw milk per day and produce dried milk mixtures for baby food, special food for sportsmen and expectant mothers, skimmed milk powder, whole milk powder, sour cream, lactose and butter. Balta Dairy was built following a 1975 decision in Moscow, based on results of careful researches, including analysis of climatic and agricultural conditions, source of raw materials, as a base of milk cattle breeding development in the region. The supply zone of BDP is under The State Program of Natural Resources Protection in Balta and neighbor regions, which provides prohibition of soil chemicalization (use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides) and building of manufacturing enterprises. It had a wholesome influence on quality of fodder and consequently on raw milk. Owing to environment protection measures and use of high-technology equipment, ecologically safe production, satisfying the present Ukrainian and foreign quality standards is produced. Quality of Lasunya milk was highly appreciated not only by native customers but also by famous foreign food products makers. So, Swiss company Nestle has placed on a Lasunya milk packing a sign of its instant chocolate beverage Nesquick. The basic market for special baby food is CIS (Russia, Belarus, Moldova). In particular in these countries from the very beginning of child's life a lack of milk mixtures, especially ones of domestic manufacturers, competitive to imported goods, is found. There is a tendency towards to widening a foreign market of dry milk mixtures (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan). About 95% of skimmed milk powder and about 85% of butter are exported to close and far foreign countries (Russia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Holland, France, Japan, China and African countries). A shipment of finished commodity is carrying out with motor and railway transport.
