Italian re-rolling companies and British carbon steel plate producer Spartan UK. The acquisition of Bulgarian Promet Steel is to be accomplished soon. Metallurgical companies of Metinvest manufacture a wide range of high quality steel products used in major steel consuming industries. In 2007 Metinvest Group mined over 5.74 mmt of coking coal (+1% to 2006 y-o-y), produced 33. 3 mmt of iron ore concentrate (+89% to 2006, y-o-y), 9.12 mmt of crude steel (+7% to 2006, y-o-y), 8.92 mmt (+11% to 2006, y-o-y) of rolled and semi finished products. The products of the Group are well marketed in more than 75 countries all over the world. We are creating a global player that will be one of the leading mining and metals businesses in the world. This will help improve the global competitiveness of our business and of the whole mining and metals sector in Ukraine. After the merger of mining and metals assets of SCM and Smart Holding in September 2007 three new companies joined Metinvest Group: Inguletskiy GOK, Makeyevka Iron and Steel Works (Ukraine) and Promet Steel (Burgas, Bulgaria). Approval of acquisition of Promet Steel by EU antitrust authorities is expected to be obtained soon. Metinvest Holding is the first Ukrainian company to have entered International Iron and Steel Institute (IISI). The Company became a regular member of this International organization in October, 2007. On November 12th, 2007 Metinvest signed the definitive share purchase agreement to acquire from the Malacalza family 100% interest in Trametal SpA and Spartan UK Ltd. Strategic partnership with Smart Holding and Malacalza Group adds 14 mmtpy of iron ore, over 2 mmtpy of crude steel and more than 3 mmtpy of rolled stock to Metinvest?s production capacities.
