 The Azov-Black Sea Ornithological StationThe Azov-Black Sea Ornithological Station (Azblackornis) is involved into study and development of measures on bird conversation on a vast area, covering coastal area, steppe and a part of forest-steppe zone. Work regions are determined not by administrative territory, but by the needs of a certain scientific program. 6 scientific programs were elaborated on the Station, adopted by Commission of National Academy of Science of Ukraine. The Station takes active part in international programs and projects. Now these are the projects of Wetlands International - AEME, Danube-Carpathian Programme WWF, other. For a long time the station fruitfully collaborates with such organizations as WIWO, Ornithological Centre of Institute of Max Plank, National Institute of Wild Fauna (Italy); Ornithological Station of Poland Academy in Science; National Institute of Ornithology (Vogelwarte, Helgoland, Germany). Being acknowledged by scientific circles of Ukraine and abroad the Station has achieved the following results of its activity: - it is appointed to be a leading agency in the project of GEF of World Bank of Reconstruction and Development. - it coordinates monitoring of waterbirds of the Black Sea basin (BlackWet) in 7 Black Sea countries; - it includes Wetlands and Protected areas Management Unit, being an expert center of World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) - it includes the Editorial Board of “Branta” since 1990; - a post-graduation department was opened to prepare experts of higher degree.
