The BikeLand projectThe BikeLand project is supported by Romania-Ukraine Neighborhood Program of European Union and managed by The Centre of Social and Business Initiatives of Yaremche - a non-profit organization that was founded in 2004. The main objective of the project is to create a network of facilities for amateur and professional biking in the Carpathian Mountains area of Ukraine and popularize it among tourists. The project covers the 3 regions of Ukraine: Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia and Chernivtsi oblasts. The project is to be implemented mainly in towns that are already well known as tourism centers – Yaremche, Vorokhta, Verkhovyna, Rakhiv, Vyzhnytsia and several more. As the result of the project, we plan to develop the following facilities in each of the towns: • 5-10 roundtrip bicycle routes for both amateur and experienced riders; • 4-8 lodging places (mainly hotels) that are totally bicycle-friendly; • 20-30 shops, cafes, bank branches and other public points equipped with convenient and safe bicycle parking; • 5-10 cultural, nature and historical objects equipped with safe bicycle parking lots; • 1-4 bicycle rentals, shops and repair points. Big attention is paid to popularization and marketing activities in order to ensure that consumers and other interested parties are well informed about new tourism opportunities. Activities to be conducted for this goal are: BikeLand Web-portal (in Ukrainian, English, Romanian and Russian languages), informational materials for free distribution (booklets, brochures, catalogues), participation in specialized exhibitions (at least 6 events during two years), advertisement placement (tourism and rest magazines, internet), cooperation with specialized tourism companies and PR-center (media-relations, press tours).
