 Ukrainian company PillarThe company is one of the world leaders and the largest Ukrainian producer of mono- and multicrystalline silicon wafers and ingots for photovoltaic industry! Pillar JSC was founded in December 1991 as an exporter of silicon ingots and wafers from Ukraine to world centres of semiconductor and photovoltaic industries, just after the fall-down of the iron curtain, when engineers of a biggest producer of semiconductor devices and IC in the former USSR – “Kwazar” Plant -bundled their knowledge to start their economic independence. In 1996 new crystal growing facility was built, comprising 10 growers (CZ), chemical and mechanical treatment departments, R&D, and laboratory. Since that time Pillar started to develop its niche on world silicon markets as producer of silicon ingots and wafers. Every following year resulted in development and improvement of technology, increase of production and diversification of the Company products. In 2002 Pillar installed first furnace based of Direct Solidification method, becoming the first company in Eastern Europe that started production of multicrystalline silicon ingots and wafers. The gradual capacity growth will result in 145 MW installed capacity for 2009. High quality raw materials and consumables, modern equipment and advanced technology of production allow Pillar to be among the market leaders, realize new ideas, keep in line with market trends and guarantee full satisfaction of the Company’s customers – major players of the world PV market. Since 2002 and till now Pillar JSC is a member of EPIA («European Photovoltaic Industry Association»), the world’s largest photovoltaic industry association represents about 95% of the European photovoltaic industry and 80% of the worldwide photovoltaic industry.
