 The theatre GOLDEN GATESThe theatre was created by the Ministry of culture of Ukraine in 1980 as the theatre of Poetry, however it is named after the Old Russian architectural monument ‘THE GOLDEN GATES’, where there was represented the high-profile performance ‘THE GOLDEN GATES’ after historical poem of L.Gorlach. Therefore the first time in native theatre the art of drama was successfully combined with the art of historic architecture. Having mastered the unique art of metaphorical aesthetic, that was proposed by the chief director honoured art worker of Ukraine Valeriy Patsunov, and relied upon the masterpieces of the world drama, the theatre crew won many times at All-Ukrainian, All-Union and international theatre festivals. Metaphorical stage-direction that provides bright staginess, figurability, poetry and musicality combined with vivid scenography and high acting skills promoted the development of ‘THE GOLDEN GATES’ to the European level. At the numerous international festivals the theatre established the reputation as one of the best little theatres in the world. ‘THE GOLDEN GATES’ was honorably awarded by the highest rating of 5 stars at the most prestigious Edinburgh (Great Britain) International Festival.
